Candlelight Vigil

The 2nd Annapolis/ Anne Arundel County International Overdose Awareness Day Candlelight Vigil

Thursday, August 31, 2017

7:15 p.m.

Arundel Christian Church, 710 Aquahart Road in Glen Burnie, MD 21061

Join Recovery Anne Arundel ROSC and Anne Arundel County for the 2nd International Overdose Awareness Day.  We wish to offer all who have been affected by overdose a chance to publicly mourn and help the community understand that fatal overdose is an issue that affects mainstream society.  The day also serves as a warning that no one is immune to overdose.  While this is a complex issue, it is not one without hope.  This is a ‘time to remember and a time to act”, and 2017 offers us a “time to heal”.

August 31st also brings the community together to highlight prevention and treatment efforts to put a stop to this epidemic, while we also gather to show support for our Annapolis/Anne Arundel County First Responders, who work so closely with behavioral health providers, faith-based organizations, law enforcement and our elected officials to carefully and compassionately understand and serve those who are affected by the disease of addiction.

Filled with inspirational stories and music, the premiere of the “I Still Remember Memorial Photo Project and the “Comfort” Café, the event will begin promptly at 7:15 p.m.  While the doors do not open to the public until 6:45 p.m., we will be having a press Q&A at 6:00 p.m., should you be interested in attending.
