Progress continues restoring our community's beautiful "Welcome to Linthicum" sign.  The sign has been disassembled.  The original failed finish is still being removed.  New replacement battens continue to be crafted.  And areas in the sign planks that have serious wood rot are being mortised out and new red wood pieces are being installed.   To catch up on what's happening enjoy reading Progress Report #4.  As Progress Reports are posted, we will announce the new report on the LSIA and other community e-bulletin boards.

Hi all,

LSIA received the following notice from Linda Harris on behalf of our Councilwoman Sarah Lacey.

Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) have announced their plans to hold a series of Open Houses to present the current thinking an options on building a new Chesapeake Bay Bridge. All of the current plans call for the bridge options to all start in Anne Arundel County. As County Executive Steuart Pittman stated, he is opposed to all of the proposed options as all transit through environmentally sensitive areas of our County.

The date and place of the closest Open House to our communities is:

Wednesday, Oct. 2 (6-8 pm)

Anne Arundel Community College

101 College Parkway

Arnold, MD 21012

Here’s a copy of the notice from MDTA:

As a public official representing an area that falls within the Chesapeake Bay Study area, we wanted to provide you with an advance copy of the press release announcing the Open Houses for the Bay Crossing Study, as well as copies of the information boards that will be available at the Open Houses and on the website at https://www.baycrossingstudy.com/. This morning the MDTA will be announcing the four preliminary alternatives, which include three preliminary corridors and a no-build alternative. Data indicates these three preliminary corridor alternatives are the only corridors to sufficiently meet the purpose and need in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

The Bay Crossing Study Tier 1 is retaining the No-Build alternative and these Preliminary Corridor Alternatives Retained for Analysis (CARA):

Corridor 6: MD 100 to US 301 between Pasadena (Anne Arundel County), Rock Hall (Kent County) and Centreville (Queen Anne’s County);

Corridor 7: existing Bay Bridge corridor, US 50/301 to US 50 between Crofton (Anne Arundel County) and Queenstown (Queen Anne’s County); and

Corridor 8: US 50/301 between Crofton (Anne Arundel County) and Easton (Talbot County).
