MDOT SHA Roadwork Update: MD 169 Safety and Resurfacing Project in Anne Arundel County

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) is starting its construction project along MD 169 (Maple Road) between MD 648 and Hammonds Ferry Road in Anne Arundel County.

Safety improvements include reconstructing ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) sidewalks and pedestrian ramps at key intersections. Work also includes replacing and upgrading storm drains along this section of Maple Road, partial-depth patching, milling and resurfacing and landscaping.

Initial work includes patching and storm drain installation. At times, pedestrian and cyclist access will be limited, and traffic may be directed using a flagging operation; drivers are reminded to remain alert for work crews.

MDOT SHA crews are permitted to work on site between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, and overnight between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights. The $1.6 million project is scheduled for completion in summer 2021.

Customers who have questions about the Maple Road safety and resurfacing project may contact the MDOT SHA District 5 Office at 410-841-1000 or toll-free at 1-800-331-5603. Project information is also available at roads.maryland.gov via the MDOT SHA Project Portal.

Sincerely,
Kellie Boulware

Annual Linthicum Fair

The annual Linthicum Fair (separate from the LSIA festival that has been canceled) will be held this Saturday, Sept. 26th from 10am-1pm on the field across from St.Johns Lutheran Church.

The fair this year will be smaller to spread out more due to COVID-19. There will be approx.10 crafters, some community groups, couple of food vendors, and maybe a game booth. Our new Linthicum mayor will be installed. Please wear a mask and use social distancing as usual.

Also, please note:

Drop off bins/boxes are in place at Carmelo's, Italia's Corner, the Allstate office and at St. John inside the double doors along Medora Rd.  We are looking for canned goods/stable food products; socks, underwear for men and women, cleaning supplies (toilet, multi-purpose, sponges, paper towels, toilet paper) to help the charities the Fair supports.

Make a plan to vote!

Have you filled out your mail-in ballot request form yet?  Do you plan on mailing your ballot back or dropping it off at a secure ballot drop box? Are you going to vote in person early or on Election Day?

We are less than 50 days away from the 2020 election and now is the time to MAKE A PLAN TO VOTE!

REGISTER TO VOTE – October 13th Deadline

If you need to register to vote or change your voter information you can do so by October 13th. You can check that your voter registration is accurate here.

VOTE BY MAIL – October 20th Request Deadline

You must proactively request your mail-in ballot by October 20th. The Maryland Board of Elections will mail requested ballots out 30-45 days before Election Day.

You can request a mail in ballot online here or you  return your mail-in ballot request form that was sent to all registered voters the last week of August. Please note that this ballot request form is not your actual ballot. If you are having trouble requesting a mail-in ballot, please call the Anne Arundel County Board of Elections and they will walk you through the process (410) 222-6600.

Once you receive your requested mail-in ballot, you can send it back via the mail or drop it off at one of the 32 secure Drop Boxes in Anne Arundel County. They will be located at voting centers and you can find the location nearest you here. These drop off boxes are monitored 24/7 and Board of Election staff will retrieve the ballots from the boxes twice a day.

Ballots must be postmarked by November 3rd or dropped off by 8:00pm on November 3rd. Please note that if you request a mail in ballot and then decide to vote in person; your in-person vote will be marked provisional on Election Day and not counted until the Board of Elections is certain you did not also return your mail-in ballot.

EARLY VOTING - October 26th – November 2nd

Anne Arundel County will host 7 Early Voting Centers, all of which will be open for Early Voting from Monday October 26th through Monday November 2nd 7:00am – 8:00pm. You can find a full list (and map) of early voting locations here.
