April LSIA Meeting is Canceled & COVID-19 Info Sources April LSIA Meeting is Canceled & COVID-19 Info Sources

By: Dan Woomer

To protect our members from possible exposure to the Coronavirus (CORVID-19) and following the Administration’s, Governor’s and County Executive’s recommendations, Suzzie Schuyler, President of LSIA, announced:

the April LSIA General Membership meeting is canceled.

Like many organizations, schools, houses of worship, sports teams, businesses, governments, and others are doing, your LSIA leadership is monitoring the updates on the incidences of the COVID-19 virus, now found here in Anne Arundel County.  As the current situation is very fluid, LSIA will be making decisions about the May meeting at a later date. We will post meeting information on the LSIA website (www.lsia.net) and on the LSIA Facebook page, as well as Nextdoor Linthicum, and the other community social media pages.

The Coronavirus is occurring in the midst of our flu season.  Though the flu comes every year, and many end up with exposure, symptoms, and recover, the flu itself should not be taken lightly.  If you feel yourself coming down with the flu - take care of yourself. Stay home. Call your doctor and tell them how you are feeling.  Follow their instructions. Drink lots of water and Orange Juice. Get at least eight hours of sleep. Eat balanced meals, including at least one hot meal.  Note - a cup of coffee or a hot tea does not count as a “hot meal.” However, a cup of hot soup does count. If medications are prescribed, take them as directed.  Remember - Stay home, rest, drink lots of fluids, eat, and take your meds.

Be sure to wash your hands with soap and water regularly throughout the day.  FYI - Washing your hands in cold water works as well as warm water. It is the soap and lather that release the bacteria and virus from your skin and the running water that rinses them away.

SCMagLev Supported by North AA County Chamber of Commerce

By: Dan Woomer

Yesterday, Senator Cardin, with several representatives for the chamber of commerce organizations along the proposed route of the SCMagLev, announced their support to moving forward with building the SCMagLev.

To see the video of the announcement and read the entire article, see: www.baltimoresun.com/business/bs-bz-maglev-business-endorsements-20191204-nnnwrnsifjcwhg2cibtmqqs2au-story.html

The Northern Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce’s Tom Balsamo, president, along with William Honablew Jr., executive director of the Baltimore City Chamber of Commerce, Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Brent Howard, and David C. Harrington, president and CEO of the Prince George’s County Chamber of Commerce, announced their support for building the SCMagLev from Baltimore to BWI then onto Washington, DC.

“The project would serve as a “win-win” for the area’s businesses and residents, said Tom Balsamo, president of the Northern Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce, which represents nearly 400 business and civic groups in Glen Burnie, Pasadena, Linthicum, Brooklyn Park, Hanover and Severn.”

Obviously, Mr. Balsamo and the Northern Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce ignored the opposition to building the SCMagLev by the Linthicum-Shipley Improvement Association, which announced their formal opposition with an announcement dated November 2, 2017 (see www.lsia.net/NEWS posting titled: “SCMAGLEV VOTE.”)  So, while Mr. Balsamo and the Northern Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce claim to represent Linthicum, they obviously do not represent the majority residents who are opposed to building the SCMagLev under our community.
